LOLLIPOP: THE SWEETEST GOOD SHIP AROUND

To paraphrase Shirley Temple’s On the Good Ship Lollipop, stepping aboard the eighth hull in Moonen Yachts’ renowned 122 Martinique series is “a sweet trip to the candy shop.” Named after Temple’s 1934 signature song and carrying personalised design details that take inspiration from the lyrics, the 37.4-metre Lollipop sits at the cross-section of Vripack Yacht Design’s refined creativity and her experienced American owners’ long-held vision.

Lollipop retains the hallmarks of the 122 Martinique series – transatlantic capability, exceptional comfort and Dutch-built quality – but is the first of three hulls to have an interior designed by Vripack. For her owners, who sailed their 17-metre high-performance catamaran around the Caribbean and America’s East Coast for the best part of a decade before acquiring their first diesel-powered superyacht, she represents the smoothest of transitions from carbon multihull to steel-hulled monohull.

Aside from being a motor yacht with a great length, shallow draft and impressive noise reduction, Lollipop is the couple’s first experience of yachting with full-time crew. Used to spending around eight months a year at sea, life onboard with their two dogs “had to be easy,” and that need was met from the outset.

While touring yachts at Monaco, they learned that Moonen had a hull under construction with a sophisticated interior and layout by Vripack that “truly appealed.”
