BEOTHUK – A DESIRE FOR EFFICIENCY

Classic by design and contemporary by outfitting at the time of delivery. Today, Beothuk still encapsulates the original brief; a desire for efficiency. Commissioned by a proactive owner with technical knowledge and time on his hands the vessel needed to deliver on two fronts. It required state-of-the-art machinery and equipment that was also easily accessible to enable the owner to maintain it himself.

And top tier it was. At 31 meters, Beothuk was the first new build to be fitted entirely with energy-saving LED lights. The soundproofed engine room gave direct access to myriad appliances, and the custom-built bridge provided touchscreen software for all onboard functions.

A quote of the Canadian-born owner of 2008-built Beothuk: “If you want a yacht of the highest pedigree, you have to go to Holland.” More than a decade on, both the sentiment and boat remain as enduring tributes to design, naval architecture, and build quality. The owner’s second Kuipers-built yacht by the same name, and his second Vripack, Beothuk is a boat that stands the test of time.

“The touches of stainless steel ensured that the overall design didn’t get too classical. The stainless steel brightens up the wood and therefor the overall design. It brings sparkle into Beothuk. Still, after so many years, Beothuk remains a classic yacht that I am proud to have designed.”

BART BOUWHUIS – CO-CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Vripack - Beothuk - Classical Yacht - Captains - Deck - Stainless steel

An abundance of stainless steel – a Kuipers signature – saw oval handrails, pipes, clips, and cleats finished in shining glory. More than an aesthetic preference, it helped to unify the Vripack-designed interior with the exterior. Madrone veneers, heated flooring, and stained cherrywood gave the yacht a modern yet sophisticated touch. And rare marble, fine fabrics, and impressive carvings elevated the design to the next level.

BEOTHUK – A BEACON OF QUALITY

Beothuk has sold several times over since her 2008 delivery and was last refitted in 2013. Her journeys have so far taken across the North West Passage and more than 90.000 nautical miles of ocean. She is a stalwart of the sea – a beacon of quality.
