At 41m and 380 GT, Hygge has seven generous guest cabins, including an owner’s suite with his and her bathrooms and a private deck area. It’s a spacious configuration made possible by the fresh perspective that Dutch design studio Vripack applied to a conventional yacht layout.
“Whereas typically the entire midsection of the lower deck would be given over to guest accommodation, we split it into two areas, locating guest cabins on the starboard side and crew service areas on the portside,” explains Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack. “Both sections have separate access and stairways allowing service to continue unimpeded across all decks and guests to enjoy their privacy without coming into contact with the crew.”
The key differentiator of the unusual divide is the positioning of the galley and laundry room on the lower deck. It leaves the main deck midsection free to be used for four guest cabins – two twins, two doubles – with a dedicated owner’s suite on the upper deck forward.
“The owner’s lifestyle requirements were just as extensive as their accommodation needs, with large social gatherings, long lingering family meals and endless days cruising the Brazilian coast on the agenda, Hygge had to deliver multi-generational needs.”
BART M. BOUWHUIS, CO-CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Hygge was constructed at MCP Yachts in Brazil – the same shipyard that delivered the award-nominated Vripack-designed 37.46m Queen Tati in early 2023. The limitations on yacht length are imposed by the yard’s facilities, which meant going up in size was never an option. Yet in addition to seven cabins, Hygge boasts a plethora of guest amenities to keep the entire family happy.
It begins with a lower deck beach club and spa, including gym, sauna and large swim platform. On the main deck, a large living area for social gatherings is paired with flexible al fresco dining on the aft deck and a bank of semi-circular oversized sunpads. The upper deck enjoys private banquet seating forward of the master suite, with formal dining and seating in the sky lounge and a large exterior aft deck for the entire family to gather. The split-level pilothouse and captain’s cabin are located forward on the sun deck, leaving the aft area free for a jacuzzi and sunpads. All 14 guests are catered for by a crew of 10.
"With a scheduled delivery date of early Summer 2024, it is without doubt that this biggest MCP build to date will provide optimum comfort and generate valuable yachting moments for her experienced owner and his family, owing to the versatile layout and abundance of clever features."
