Special One announced as a finalist in five categories of the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards

Special One has been named as a finalist in five categories of the prestigious Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2025.

Special One, the world’s largest sportfishing yacht, features exterior design, interior design, and naval architecture by Vripack. Built by Royal Huisman, this incredible vessel partners superyacht luxury with the performance and equipment of a top tournament sportfisher – on steroids.

“If someone had told us in five years there will be a 52m sportfisher that goes 30-plus knots, our feedback would be, ‘Impossible’, but it is possible, in fact she goes from 0 to 30 knots in 46 seconds.” commented Bart Bouwhuis, Co-Creative Director at Vripack.

The groundbreaking yacht has earned finalist recognition in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Exterior Design (52m – 69.9m)
  • Best Naval Architecture – Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts
  • Outstanding Lifestyle Feature (Fish Cockpit and Bait Store)
  • Innovation of the Year (Vacuum Elevator)
  • Best Interior Motor Yachts (499GT and below, 40m and above)

Making her debut at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, Special One embodies Vripack’s philosophy of holistic design, seamlessly integrating form and function. Her specifications required her to be able to reach fishing grounds at 30 knots – a speed she comfortably exceeds — whilst being able to turn and back down on her catch with the same agility as a vessel half her size. She has full accommodation for ten guests and nine crew, six outdoor social areas including an outdoor cinema with DJ platform on the bow, a sound system of the highest specification, gyro stabilisation, a retractable commercial offshore 3D fish finder, and the world’s first pneumatic elevator installed on a yacht. Even more remarkable, she is under 500GT.
