Burger Boat Company is steeped in heritage. One of the oldest yacht builders in existence, its name resonates with those familiar with custom, high-end, American-built superyachts. So, when Burger had a client for a small superyacht, Burger reached out to the smart thinking Dutch yacht design studio Vripack. The results of this collaboration is the Burger 48 Cruiser; large yacht innovation in a compact package.
Built-in aluminium and petite in length, at just 14.6m, the Burger 48 Cruiser bears the hallmarks of superyacht design manifested with dayboat convenience, occupying a part of the yachting sector that is typically dominated by production boats. Conceived as an alternative to an owner’s large family yacht, it offers spontaneity on the water, wrapped in a custom design.
‘It is absolutely unique to have a fully custom 48-foot boat, and it gave us the opportunity to really create something out of the ordinary. It’s rare to see this level of detailing in a boat of this size, and truthfully speaking, the result is on par with a mini superyacht.’

Undertaking the exterior design, layout, and naval architecture, Vripack applied its innovative slide hull to the design, which provides comfort in even the roughest waters and is exceptionally easy to maneuver. But it’s the time and execution spent on the high level of detailing where the Burger 48 Cruiser BLUE comes into its own. Awash with artisanal design elements, custom stainless-steel accents, and an interior from De Basto Designs, the result is a work of art.
An open-plan layout provides a vast main deck area, with a minimalist approach taken to window mullions and steps. Space is again optimized in the full-beam master stateroom and the VIP forward, both equipped with private en suite.
A contemporary sunroof keeps the interior light and airy, while the extended aft deck area allows for a hydraulic swim platform, which further promotes enjoyment close to the water’s edge. Elegant in style, daring in nature, the 48 Cruiser’s success speaks for itself.
‘To create a double deck yacht is quite a challenge because it's a lot of volume to fit in a compact space. But again, the slide hull offers significantly more hull volume to a typical planing hull, that really allowed us to add all this interior space.’
